off the grid

Things may be a little slow on the blog for awhile.

Scott and I had a wonderful Valentine's Day, tucked in together at home.

My parents will be here in a couple hours for a couple weeks. They'll be here with me when Scott deploys, for which I am extremely grateful. I hate that he's leaving again, and for so long. I love that I have the support of our families.

So if I'm off the grid for awhile, the above reasons are pretty self-explanatory. When I'm back, I'll have plenty to update on!

galapagos and pachyderm

You'll notice that I've changed things around on this page, once again.

Scott has long since abandoned this project, so I'm taking full control from here on out. I'll try to keep the original intent of this blog intact: posts to keep you all updated as the important events occur, but I may also post a bit more on the things that make me me--projects I'm working on, my personal take on situations, and the like.

So in short-more about me.

Hopefully, this won't dissuade too many of our followers (read: family). Maybe along the way, I'll even be able to eventually keep you entertained enough to want to keep returning!

Oh...btw, Scott wanted me to work our two, all-time favorite words into this post. Can you spot them? ;-)

Check!

{Nicky}

That's me, putting a check mark next to "Birth mother finishes final interview for paperwork"...

CHECK!

So that step is done. As Scott's deployment looms, it's going to be a paperwork race, it seems. If we get the paperwork submitted and they move on it quickly, Scott should be able to go with me to get the baby. If not, and he has to leave for deployment before we get to pick her up, then it looks like my mom will be coming with me. So that's where we're currently at...although, in this whole process, nothing so far has turned out as it seemed that it would...

Tomorrow, my friend Gabbie and her family are leaving for their new station in Omaha, NE. We'll be very sad to see them go, especially me, as Gabbie has been a huge lifeline for me through this whole "adventure" down here. We'll be meeting them for one last dinner before they head out. They'll be very missed.

Scott has a nice long weekend ahead, and we're planning on getting down to the OBX to spend some QT together. It's going to be an early b-day celebration for me!!

Here's hoping for some sun and warmth!
